We are delighted to be partnering with Lumen Prize on a very special Placemaking award.
From light festivals to lobbies, exhibitions to enhanced experiences, digital art has become an increasingly versatile medium that is being used to attract and engage audiences on a large scale in order to generate awareness of and content for destinations.
This new channel can be viewed sceptically or positively. We see it positively and as a new form of patronage.
For the last 12 months we have used digital art as a foundation of a successful placemaking strategy for Leeds Dock that has seen thousands of people interact with work in a series of unlikely settings and become advocates for both the artists and the locations.
The role of digital art as a placemaking tool rightly deserves recognition so This Must Be The Place have worked with the Lumen Prize to establish a special commendation award in the digital arts for Placemaking.
We hope that this special commendation will open up the fields and enable more artists to show and fund their work.
There are numerous submissions to this years Lumen Prize that have been or could be used as a placemaking attraction and it has been a pleasure to review each.
Unfortunately we have had to whittle it down to just 10 works but we commend all artists.
Our long list of entries for the This Must Be The Place 'Special Commendation for Placemaking' are:
